Donaldson Steelhead trout, Pickled asparagus, Pickled bell peppers, Fresh bell peppers, mild and hot jalapenos. About Us Ely Farms began in the year 2000. After our oldest son started raising fresh asparagus as a FFA project, our farm was on the road to diversification in a new and different way. Thus began our mission to develop a farm that was sustaining itself with products that could be sold directly to the consumer. Since that time we have developed markets for fresh asparagus, pickled asparagus, farm raised fish, and our new product this fall, pickled bell peppers. Four hundred acres of farmland are still under no-till but our "home garden" keeps growing. Our oldest son, Neal is responsible for the pickled veggies, while our youngest son, Reid and myself deal with the fresh vegetable production and fish processing and sales. As a family farm we are seeking to bring quality Nebraska products to you while helping our local community grow. We hope Nebraska can continue to be "the good life". Browse through our Products for Sale Ingredients We offer fish fillets individually frozen in approximately two, three, and five pound increments. No other ingredients are added to our fish. They are frozen and packaged just prior to the sale to our customers. Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) FISH: We raise our fish in renovated hog buildings. Fresh water from our well is their only source of water. Fish are processed in our state and FDA inspected kitchen. The fish are fed a commercial feed but no antibiotics are used at any time. You won't find any contaminants in our fish as are found in other fisheries in the world today. ASPARAGUS: We raise our asparagus with minimal chemical usage. In the past we have used chemicals for weed control but we are currently experimenting with no chemicals on one of our acres. We never spray any chemicals on the plant and never during the harvesting season. Additional Information Our fish is an all Nebraska product. They are hatched and raised to fingerling size in western Nebraska and then sold to our farm where they are grown to market weight, generally one to two pounds. Price is $7.50 per pound. Highlights this Month New this month, green bell peppers, MILD jalapeno peppers and the regular hot jalapeno peppers. See our new fish product for a quick, easy and healthy grilling adventure. |
