About Us
We are located 9 miles northeast of West Point, about 90 minutes north of Omaha. My great-great grandfather homesteaded not too far from here, and we were thrilled to move to Nebraska back in 1998 from California to raise our family. We love it here!

Our family farm uses mainly organic practices, we raise our livestock on pasture, and the poultry feed we mix ourselves. It is made using organic or transitional non-GMO corn, soy meal and oats. We work with very limited quantities of livestock due to our limited space, but this enables us to give more attention to each group of animals.

Ingredients
Poultry Feed: We can custom mix different rations, with the most popular being broiler and layer rations. It's available in 50# bags, or on the farm in bulk. The main ingredients are organic or transitional non-GMO corn, soy meal, oats, Fertrell Poultry Nutribalancer (vitamins, minerals, kelp meal, probioitcs), Fertrell Aragonite Calcium, and for higher-protein mixes, fish meal which contains a natural preservative instead of the more common synthetic preservative.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
See Producer Questionnaire. Feel free to ask us any additional questions.

Additional Information
The Berkshire pork we raise is a specialty breed, highly prized by gourmet chefs and overseas markets for its excellent flavor and marbling. We can attest that it really is different - more flavorful and moist than the standard pork that can be purchased from most places. It does NOT compete with chicken for being "the other white meat"! We currently custom-grow the porkers to order, so if you know you'd like to have a 1/2 hog raised for you, we can do it! (It's really a neat accomplishment to raise 1/2 hogs!) We generally have a spring and fall batch that we raise, but will start additional groups if there is interest. We deliver them to a local processor, and you get all sorts of choices for how you'd like to have the meat packaged. We are happy to help with this process, as it can be intimidating the first time you go through it. Just email me if you'd like additional cost estimates.

Meats: Pork

#742 A BERKSHIRE PORK DESCRIPTION
Order number of packages. ***SOLD OUT UNTIL MAY***
For the first time we have a limited quantity of Berkshire Pork available by the cut, as opposed to just being available by the ½ hog. This is an excellent opportunity to try a few packages and test for yourself how much better the quality is than standard supermarket pork.

What’s different about it? For one, it is NOT “the other white meat”: a lean tasteless, lifeless marketing creation trying to be a chicken! Berkshire pork in particular is prized for richness of flavor, excellent marbling, tenderness and moisture. This is the “black pig” so prized by Asian cultures. Our hogs in particular are not lean. Fat is where the flavor comes from, and since our pigs are raised outdoors with feed that includes organic grains and skim milk, their taste is outstanding! These pigs are raised humanely on pasture and in wooded areas on our farm, and have shelter as well. The cuts offered are gourmet-quality cuts of meat, and we’re proud to make them available to you.

#503 Click to shrink Thanksgiving Turkey Reservations - 18+ lbs, commercial white Thanksgiving Turkey Reservations - 18+ lbs, commercial white
Order number of reservations. We will have a limited number of the familiar broad-breasted white hen turkeys available this fall. They are truly free-range, roaming our pasture at will. In addition, we mix our own fresh feed using organic and transitional organic grains. Reservations will be accepted during summer/fall of 2008. Feel free to contact me for more information.
All Natural $5.00/reservation
#505 Click to shrink Thanksgiving Turkey Reservations: Heritage-Type Tom, 17-20# Thanksgiving Turkey Reservations: Heritage-Type Tom, 17-20#
Order number of reservations. Each year we hatch and raise our own strains of heritage-type turkeys. They include Bourbon Red, Sweetgrass and Heritage white varieties. These birds are true sustainable, farm-type birds, as they can naturally reproduce, which the man-made commercial white breeds are unable to accomplish any longer, due to their enormous size. These are truly free-range, roaming our pasture at will. In addition, we mix our own fresh feed using organic and transitional organic grains. They are a smaller size bird than the commercial white, and are more of a "single-breasted" proportion of white meat to dark vs. the "double-breasted" commercial butterball-like whites. We'll be taking reservations again during summer/fall of 2008. Feel free to contact me for more information. Cooking suggestions are provided as well.
