Since the Sunflowers were here when I bought the land, it is only right to call it Sunflower Acres. I am determined to make everything I use on a daily basis out of natural ingredients, and share it with co-op members. We have so many toxic chemicals forced on us every day, at least I can eliminate the toxins in all the products I use and sell. Some of our natural products I make include: Herbal Body Dusting Powder, Calendula Oil & Lip Balm, Natural Deodorant, Herbal Bath Tea, Whipped Calendula Shea Butter, Natural Autumn Spice Cleaner, Liquid Laundry Detergent sold in recycled laundry jugs, or in powdered detergent form. I also offer Healthy Pooch Dog Treats and Dog Treat Mix, and Flower Seeds. I started making dog treats for my old German Shorthair, Earl, to be sure he gets nutrition in his diet. Now I have 1 more dog, (not by choice, but I love him!) They just can't get enough of them! Every batch of Healthy Pooch Dog Treats is tested by myself, Old Earl and Little Bear (a nasty little Pom that my ex left in his old house when he moved)) and some of my friends. Sometimes I go back for more Pumpkin Treats! I buy organic when possible, and use fresh farm eggs when available, then I cut the treats into fun shapes: Dog houses, Fire hydrants, Paws, Bones, and Holiday shapes. No preservatives are added, so they should be stored in the freezer. I have added a Dog Treat Mix, so you can make them yourself if you want to have a fun family baking day. You can add any flavor you have on hand: Chicken, Beef, Veggies, Fish, (try not to use Tuna, studies have found unsafe levels of Mercury in a lot of the cans tested), Salmon, or Mackerel. The mix will make 1 1/2 pounds or more. Cut them in fun shapes or just use a pizza cutter to cut squares. According to the ASPCA website, dogs need 3 food groups in their diet: Meat, Grains, & Vegetables. To find out more information on care and feeding you can go to aspca.org. You will see which foods are good and bad for our 4 legged friends. They say treats should only consist of 10% of your pets diet. I now have 2 fun recycled products: I am always trying to think of new ways to recycle. Jean Handbags made from recycled jeans. Tote Bags made from recycled pet food bags. To many to list here! Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) Live Plants and Calendula: No chemicals are used on any of the plants, or in our skin care products. Sometimes we add crushed eggshells to the plants, to recycle, and give the plants nutrition. Our plants are not doing as well as last year at this time, so we will not have any to sell. Homemade Laundry Detergent: In order to help the environment, the containers are different size recycled laundry jugs. Our natural laundry detergent is safe for septic systems, front loading and HE washing machines, and the environment. On each laundry jug we are now putting a return label. Please return them if possible, plus any others you have, but don't make a special trip. Jane's Health Food Store will hold them for me. We recycle just about everything here! Everything I make is first tested for quality before offering for sale. Additional Information Healthy Pooch Dog Treats: If your dog or cat has any allergies or health problems I will try to find a recipe for special treats for him/her. Also, if for some reason your dog doesn't like the treats you received, I will send you a different flavor next month. I can make soft pillow shaped treats if you need to give your dog pills in medium to large size. The small dog treats are to small to make soft pillows. Thank you! Here is a new concoction. I have a bottle of 100% pure Peppermint Essential oil that I tried in a batch of cream deodorant. How fun, I have been using it for about 3 months, and and love it! It really works to eliminate odor and smells awesome but not overpowering.
Peppermint Cream Shea Butter Deodorant is made from the finest herbal ingredients available: Raw Unrefined Shea Butter, Pure Cocoa Butter, Pure Olive Oil infused with Calendula, Baking Soda, Corn Starch, Vitamin E Oil, and Peppermint Essential Oil. I have just sewed up some handmade 5 1/2" off-white soft fleece powder puffs with ribbon handles to use with the Body Dusting Powder.
They have Mint Green, Lavender or narrow yellow braided ribbon handles. To use: pour dusting powder into a pretty bowl, and dip the puff into it. Pat on dusting powder after showering, bathing or to freshen up on humid days.

Wow, was it hot today! Is anyone else looking for help staying cool or at least appearing to be cool calm, and non-drenched? Here is another natural concoction that I have been playing around with lately, using the natural ingredients and herbs that I already have. Body Dusting Powders can be of great benefit to a natural skin care routine. Dusting a pleasantly scented, or even a natural fragrance-free powder on your body after a shower or bath can help to keep your skin feeling smooth and fairly dry during hot humid weather. Body Powders can also help to regulate skin's moisture by absorbing excess oil, and can help reduce friction that can cause heat rashes and irritation, which usually occurs on the legs and arms. The base ingredients are Baking Soda, Corn Starch, and finely ground dried herbs and flowers. They are slightly gritty, due to the Baking Soda, but seem to really do the job of staying dry, until I find a way to make them more silky. Sold in a plastic zip lock bag. Maybe you can find a recycled shaker jar, spice jar, vintage powder container, or pretty glass bowl to put the powder in and refill it as needed. Contains no toxic Zinc stearate or silicates. May need to be shaken or add a small amount of uncooked rice grains to keep from clumping on humid days. Store in a the plastic wrap on a cup, in a cool place, they could melt. No problem if they melt. Put in a cool place for about an hour. Solid Lotion Bars are much easier and less messy to use than lotions, with no waste.

Calendula petals from our garden are infused with 100% Pure Olive Oil, which also benefits dry skin, for several weeks, and strained into 4 oz. fine mist spray bottles.
My favorite use, so far is for dry elbows, knees, and feet. One night I accidently spilled half of a jar down my leg, and instead of wasting it, I rubbed it on my elbows, legs, and feet. I had a few mosquito bites & sunburn, it stopped the itch right away. It worked better than any lotion I have used. However, you don't need to use that much! A little goes a long way.
My latest use: I have been massaging it in an upward motion on my face in the AM and PM after washing my face. Then I blot it with a towel. I can barely notice the frown line and the wrinkles!
It feels good to know I am not rubbing chemicles into my skin, like most face creams.

A creamy, unscented, totally natural blend of Calendula Oil and Vitamin E whipped into Pure Raw Unrefined Shea Butter. In my opinion, the best combination there is for natural skin care!
Unrefined is better than refined. Refining Shea Butter is usually done by bleaching and deodorizing it, neutralizing it with lye, and over-heating it to high temperatures, loosing most of the beneficial vitamins. Our Calendula Oil is made by infusing Calendula petals in Pure Olive oil in the sun for several weeks. Our whipped Calendula Shea is perfect for hydrating dry skin, wrinkles, and stretch marks. I love it for winter when my skin gets dry. It is super thick and absorbs into the skin and stays put. I have read that is great to condition hair, but have not tried it yet because my hair is to straight and fine and it may weigh it down. This may be good for the frizzies on thick hard to manage curly hair. Ingredients: Raw Shea Butter, Calendula infused Pure Olive Oil and Vitamin E Oil. Natural laundry detergent powder made with 100% vegetable based soap scented with Chamomile essential oil, Baking Soda, Borax, and Washing Soda.
Our kit may be used as is, for powdered laundry detergent, if you do not have time to make liquid detergent. It only takes 2 Tablespoons of powdered detergent per average load, so you should get 36 loads from one bag using 2 T. Safe for your skin, the environment, Septic Systems, and new front loading and HE washing machines. Sold in a quart size zip lock bag, about 3 cups. You may need a spot remover for stains, same as with other detergents. FREE BONUS: With each order, you will receive a recipe sheet with 4 thrifty stain remover recipes.
