Organic, non-organic, Fair Trade/ETP hand-blended teas & tisanes. About Us The Tea Trove was established in 2003 at the Omaha Farmers Market originally under the name Sage's Den Tea House. Since then, we've grown to be Nebraska's Premier Tea blender and largest specialty tea merchant. Our custom, hand-blended line includes more than 80 unique blends, while our entire line is around 100 teas/tisanes. We also create signature blends for wholesale customers. Our business is family-owned, consists of a single blender (Kori), her husband (Steve), their two children (tasters) and one employee (Kathy). We participate in the Omaha Farmers Market every season as well as a variety of events throughout the year. People often inquire about medicinal blends. While we are happy to blend for you, we cannot state that a particular blend will yield a particular result. Medicinals are typically a blend of several different plants and rarely include tea (camillia sinensis). Browse through our Products for Sale Ingredients Most of our teas are organic, fair trade/Ethical Tea Partnership. We've utilized the same importers for most of our time in business. The teas are sourced from China, Japan, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka and a few minor producers such as Vietnam. Other ingredients include herbs, flowers, berries, and organic flavoring oils for coffee and tea. Specialty tea is typically defined as "high- grown." Some teas are very rare: Yellow tea, Silver Needle-White, Aged Pu-erh. Others are more readily available: Sencha, Pai Mu Tan (White Peony), Assam, Ceylon, Gunpowder, to name a few. Tea is graded, but this grading is not standard across producers. This is why the relationship between tea blender and tea importer is critical. You know tea is bad when it has a rancid smell. Keep it tightly sealed, away from light and moisture (until it's time to steep, of course!) and you will have great tea for 1 or more years. After all, the best Pu-erh is aged in caves for many years. It is the only truly fermented tea. In Chinese medicine it is used as a digestive. An herbal blend usually requires more tea/8-oz cup. We suggest 1 1/2 tsp., but you can read the package directions for the specific blend to see if we determined a different amount. Steeping time is 7+ minutes. Many of our tisanes simply get better with longer steeping. The flavors intensify. Teas differ in the amount required based on leaf size. We provide general guidelines on our packages. Tea is about experimenting! Some like an Assam at 3 minutes, others at 5 minutes. It is all subjective in the end. Enjoy your cup. I enjoy mine several times/day! Additional Information Many have wondered why we decided to start a tea business. The answer is simple: We like tea. Creating blends for others to enjoy is a lot of fun. We are a company who believes "any blend is possible," so just ask. We enjoy partnering with others and spend quite a bit of our time sharing our hand-blended teas, tisanes, lemonades and Wassail with others. We accept wholesale orders. *Contains trace amounts of caffeine from the addition of cocoa nibs. This tisane is a fabulous aromatic treat on a cold day or night. It combines organic rooibos, mint, cocoa nibs and cinnamon. Rooibos, a plant from South Africa, has all the antioxidant properties found in tea without the caffeine. Each package contains 2 ounces of tisane yielding approximately 25, 8-oz servings. This full-flavored tisane is best when steeped 15 or more minutes. It cannot be re-steeped.
