About Open Sky Farm:
Health and happiness. Those are the words we live by. Health and happiness of the land, health and happiness of the animals, health and happiness of the farmers, and health and happiness of the customers. All equally important but it starts with the land and ends with the customer. Healthy soils produce nutrient dense/diverse forage, which ensures our animals have a good quality diet. A good quality diet, proper health supplements (rock salt, kelp, apple cider vinegar) and humane treatment are the ingredients for happy animals. Happy animals make amazing products and amazing products are just what the farmers and customers want/need.
General Practices:
We practice management intensive grazing to promote soil/land health. We calve on pasture in Spring to promote herd health. We do not vaccinate, use growth hormones or give antibiotics to our beeves. If something does happen and an animal needs to be treated, they are pulled from the group and will not be used for beef. Our cattle are all 100% pasture raised and forage fed. Our cattle receive Kansas rock salt, Wick's Mineral, sea kelp and apple cider vinegar to ensure happy, healthy cattle.
