About The Modern Homestead:

My name is Kate Vosler and about 7 years ago I started growing food for my family. I became very passionate about "REAL" food. I don't agree with adding fake unhealthy ingredients to food. I love to grow it, I love to cook it and I take pride in knowing where it came from. I'm also a big do it yourselfer, All the stuff I sell is made by yours truly (sometimes with the help of my kids). Figuring out how to do things and creating is my passion. My family moved into our new acreage in October 2016 and it is blossoming into an all natural food heaven. We planted fruit trees and berry bushes along with our chickens and just added our first MILK COW!!! I'm SOOO excited to get fresh milk, cream and cheese! New adventures are happening all the time and I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to share them with others who love healthy delicious food. (Hopefully we'll be getting some bees)

General Practices:

We use organic practices, but are not certified. Quality of life for our animals is important. Chickens range freely around the yard and bugs are plucked from vegetable by hand (I usually pay my kids to do it). We Make our own compost out with the gracious help of our cattle and chickens. I strive to live and grow in harmony with nature. That being said I am not a big producer of any one item, I have a wide variety. ALL garden vegetables are grown from Heirloom seeds.
