Grassfed lamb, free-range eggs, apples, other fruits & vegetables, and other items About Us We are Brian Depew and Steph Larsen. We bought a very small farm near Lyons, Nebraska in 2010 after a lot searching for the right place. We have 12 acres, about 6 acres that we graze and 6 acres where our house, out-buildings, grove and gardens sit. Brian grew up on a family farm in Iowa and Steph studied sustainable agriculture in graduate school and we're both happy to be back to working with animals and plants. We raise Katahdin sheep, chickens of various breeds including a few rare ones like Speckled Sussex and Golden Wyandotte, and plan to add additional livestock and fruit and vegetable crops in the future. Browse through our Products for Sale Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) First and foremost, we rely on good management and prevention. We use rotational grazing to promote the health of both our pasture and our animals. We are not certified organic, but our practices are generally organic. If an animal becomes sick, we will treat it with limited medication and lots of personal attention for their welfare. Most of our animals have never received any medication and we will not sell animals that were treated without full disclosure. We do not use hormones or steroids. We do not use herbicides or pesticides on the farm. Additional Information See our producer questionnaire for more information. Feel free to ask us any questions you have! Highlights this Month Apples! These tart, crisp red apples with white flesh are fantastic for baking and sauce. Some are just right for eating too! Some will have a few blemishes, but a tastier cooking apple you won't find. We don't know exactly what kind they are, we just know they're delicious. Though we are not certified organic, these apples were never sprayed or treated with anything. |
