I believe our animals our extremely healthy. More now than ever since we have learned about rotating, reducing stress. We dod treat some animals that get sick from time to time with anitiotics but those are identified with ear notches and special colored tags and removed from the North Star Neighbor program. |

Free range most all of their lives. Cattle are finished in a feedlot for about 100 - 120 days. |

Most all of the land that our animals run on could be considered as very near using organic practices. We do compost. We use green manures and animal manures. No outside sources of fertilizers are used. |

We have no irrigation. We protect our water mostly by leaving plenty of cover on the land. Much of our land is pasture and CRP which we rotate. We also like to leave stubble enough to catch vauluable water from running off. |

We are very cautious about protecting soil from eroding. We have planted lots of tree, grass and haven\'t had a problem with wind erosion at all because of the residue covers we leave on fields. |

All of the animals we raise are chosen for quality and whether they could support and fend for themselves without human help. They are picked for quality and soundness and not on production only. They are suitable for the environment and feed availability in the area that that live. Sustainability is the key to all things living in a healthy environment. |
